BOAT INFORMATION
$40,000 price reduction. Seller says "SELL NOW"
LIL BEAR is an Outremer 55 light equipped for super high performance voyaging. She carries the latest high-tech sails, is set up with solar and efficient refrigeration, and sails at amazing speeds. She can regularly pull 200 to 240 mile days under sail. In other words, with good weather routing, LIL BEAR can avoid or outrun just about any violent weather.
And like all Outremer's she is built like a rock, with solid fiberglass hulls. She was honored in 2000 as the Cruising World "Best Cruising Multihull." The owner is motivated to sell so bring in your best offer. I recently inspected her in Alameda, CA and she looks just fantastic. I am pretty confident that it would be difficult to find an Outremer this nice, with all her upgrades, new engine, new electronics, new dinghy and motor, etc, that shows as well. She is at the top of the class.
This boat is a real performance voyager, a true sailing machine for a serious cruiser to knock off plenty of 200 plus mile days. If you are about performance and comfort underway, LIL BEAR represents very good value for a yacht of her size and her top condition.
LIL BEAR was totally refitted in January through April, 2008 - she was given an entire new Z-Spar mast, new standing rigging and the finest cruising laminate sails you can purchase - Hydranet radial main, jib and screeching cost $38,000. The new mast and running rigging cost another $40,000. The cost of the refit in 2008 was approximately $100,000. The current owners bought her in 2011 and brought her to San Francisco, where she was lightly day sailed around the Bay with occasional trips outside the Bay.
In addition to her newer sails and rig, LIL BEAR has a Spectra Santa Cruz watermaker, four solar panels, Equinox heating system, a large newer dacron screecher, a 2002 Quantum asymmetrical spinnaker in great condition, separate Isotherm refrigerator and freezer, several anchors, oversize Lofrans windlass, two new Raymarine autopilots, Victron Inverter, 2013 Raymarine Hybrid Touch Multi- function display with radar and AIS and a new Achilles rib 10' 4" foot tender with new 2013 20 HP Honda 4 stroke outboard.
LIL BEAR has 776 hours on the port 37.5 HP Nani diesel, replaced in 2014. The starboard Nani was replaced in 2009 and has unknown hours.
She is set up with large queen berths aft, central heads, and two large centrally located showers in each hull. Forward in each hull are v-berths which can be set up as singles, or arranged for "over and under bunkbeds."
LIL BEAR is set up for those who intend to do long passages in comfort and with enormous speed. With her newer rig and sails, low engine hours, solar, and the gear she has, she is a perfectly turn-key voyaging catamaran for the serious sailing enthusiast.
